Long-term changes in extreme rainfall in Eastern China have intensified due to human activities, with hourly and daily precipitation becoming more extreme. This intensification is stronger than expected and is linked to global warming. The study used high-quality data to show that heavy rainfall events are increasing in frequency and intensity, surpassing natural variability. This suggests that human-induced climate change is already impacting extreme rainfall in this region.
