Controlling Seasonal Effects Boosts Electricity Demand Elasticity, Study Finds
This study looked at how the price of electricity affects how much people use it, and how this relationship changes with the seasons. The researchers used data from 1981 to 2018 to analyze this. They found that when temperature and seasonal effects are taken into account, the price of electricity has a bigger impact on how much people use it. This means that estimates of how sensitive people are to price changes in electricity use might be lower than they actually are if these factors are not considered.
