Plastic waste in concrete boosts sustainability and reduces environmental impact.
The researchers tested using shredded plastic waste as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in concrete. They found that replacing fine aggregate with plastic at different percentages (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) affected the mechanical properties of the concrete. Tests were conducted on M20 grade concrete with both conventional and partially replaced mixtures. The concrete specimens were cured for different periods (7, 14, 28, 56 days) and tested for strength. The study aimed to find a sustainable solution for disposing of plastic waste by incorporating it into concrete production.
