Low-quality coal in Nigeria holds potential for electricity generation
The researchers studied coal samples from the Effin – Okai deposit in Nigeria to understand their composition and potential industrial uses. They found that the coal contains vitrinite, liptinite, and inertinite, with higher proportions of vitrinite and inertinite. The average composition showed 58.60% vitrinite, 8.60% liptinite, and 32.80% inertinite. The coal is not suitable for making coke but can be used for electricity generation, heating boilers, and industrial ovens.
