Solar Irradiance Trends Debunked: No Threat to Climate Change Predictions
Total solar irradiance levels between 1978 and 2003 were compared using measurements and reconstructions based on solar magnetic fields. The reconstruction matched well with one set of measurements, but not with others. The measurements showing a long-term increase in solar irradiance were not supported by the reconstructions, suggesting that magnetic fields on the sun's surface are not responsible for any long-term trend in solar irradiance during this period.
