Groundwater in Cochabamba's Central Valley is crucial for drinking water, but overuse is a concern. A study used MODFLOW to model groundwater flow, considering factors like rainfall and well data. The model showed high water levels in unconfined aquifers, with water flowing mainly from north to south. The water table is shallow in the south and deep in the north. The model suggests that rivers and rainfall recharge the system, while evapotranspiration is the main way water leaves.
