Mountain river in China shows seasonal changes in water quality
The Xiying River in China was studied to understand its water chemistry. The river is slightly alkaline with pH 8.01 and TDS 179.29 mg·L-1. TDS levels change along the river, increasing then decreasing with elevation. Ion concentrations are lowest in summer and highest in autumn and winter. The river's chemical type is CaMg-HCO3, with NH4+ being the most abundant cation.
