New technology ensures safe mining in steep coal seam conditions.
Steeply dipping coal seams near each other can cause ground pressure issues during mining. In a case study at Panbei Mine, researchers studied mining the 5th and 4th coal seams. They created a model to understand the pressure on the coal wall and simulated rock mechanics during mining. The study revealed stress distribution and support pressure evolution under the goaf. Field measurements confirmed the accuracy of the calculations and simulations. The researchers proposed stability control measures for the surrounding rock, roof, and roadway, leading to safe mining practices and positive outcomes.
