Remote sensing data improves hydrological model calibration for better water management.
The study compared different ways to calibrate a hydrological model using streamflow and evapotranspiration data in a river basin in Myanmar. They found that using both streamflow and evapotranspiration data together gave the best results for the model. When only one type of data was used for calibration, the model performed well for that data but not as well for the other. The researchers suggest that combining remote sensing-based evapotranspiration data with streamflow data can help improve the accuracy of hydrological models in data-scarce regions like the Chindwin Basin.
