Government Funds Empower Women in Tanzania, Transforming Lives and Communities
The study looked at how government funds given to women's groups in Kati ward, Arusha city in Tanzania, affected their well-being. They used surveys, interviews, and group discussions to gather information from 90 women. The funds helped women start businesses like trading, tailoring, and poultry farming. This led to benefits like owning assets, better education for children, healthier meals, easier access to healthcare, and improved decision-making. The study found that government funds were linked to better living standards for women. Recommendations include creating good policies for women's groups, making it easier for them to get support from banks, and promoting a positive environment for their activities. Leaders of women's groups should avoid conflicts and come up with strategies to increase members' incomes.
