New method for survival function estimation offers precise confidence intervals.
The Kaplan-Meier estimator, commonly used in various fields, has been reinterpreted as an M-estimator by maximizing a specific function. This new approach offers a fresh perspective on the estimator's properties and allows for the calculation of confidence intervals and bands. Through simulations and real data analysis, it has been shown that the M-estimator is equivalent to the traditional Kaplan-Meier estimator.
