Ungulate species in Mediterranean environment exhibit complex behavioral strategies for coexistence.
The study looked at how three different types of animals - roe deer, fallow deer, and wild boar - share space and time in a Mediterranean environment. Using camera traps, the researchers found that these animals often use the same areas and have similar daily activity patterns, especially in the summer. However, they also found that the animals tend to avoid each other at a more detailed level, suggesting they have strategies to coexist peacefully. This suggests that factors like temperature and human activity may play a bigger role in shaping their behavior than competition between species.
