Humans tend to make different choices even when faced with the same options repeatedly. By looking at data from five experiments on risky and time-related choices, it was found that the consistency of our choices is linked to how much we value the options. The stronger our preference for one option over another, the more consistent our choices will be. When the options are very similar in terms of preference, our choices tend to be more inconsistent.
