Free Senior High School Policy Eases Financial Burden on Ghanaian Parents
The free senior high school policy in Ghana has helped parents and guardians by reducing their financial burden. A study conducted in the North East and Upper East Regions found that the policy relieved the economic stress on families, especially those in rural areas. However, challenges like delays in funding disbursement for food and learning materials were identified. To improve the system, sustainable funding sources are needed, and the double-track system should be changed to a single-track system by expanding school facilities and increasing staff numbers.
