Fungus Pellets Decolor Toxic Dye, Offer Wastewater Cleanup Solution
The researchers tested if Trametes versicolor fungus pellets could remove malachite green dye from water. They found that higher fungus concentration led to better dye removal, but higher dye concentration made removal less effective. Adding glucose slightly reduced dye removal. The fungus pellets could still remove dye in multiple uses, but less effectively each time. This suggests that these pellets could be useful for cleaning up water contaminated with malachite green dye.
