A study on photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) water heating systems found that combining solar panels with thermal collectors can generate both electricity and heat efficiently. By keeping the solar cells cool, their electrical efficiency can be greatly improved. Over the past 30 years, researchers have made significant progress in developing hybrid PV/T technology, creating various solar collectors and new materials for solar cells. Experimental models have been tested to identify important design parameters for optimal performance. This research provides an overview of the advancements in hybrid PV/T collector technology and its potential applications in households.
