Wheat Varieties Discovered That Could Boost Crop Yields in Nepalese Hills
A study in Nepal tested different types of wheat to see which ones grow best in the hill region. They planted 20 types of wheat at research stations and measured traits like how tall the plants grew and how much grain they produced. In one year, a type called BL 4061 had the highest grain yield. In another year, NL 1153 was the best. These types were consistent in their performance across both years. The study suggests that NL 1055, NL 1153, NL 1159, NL 1156, and NL 1179 are promising varieties that should be tested further for release to farmers.
