Light-absorbing coatings made from low-vacuum aluminum are a new option for solar and optoelectronic devices. These coatings have very high absorption rates in visible and infrared light, making them act like black bodies. Researchers studied how these coatings changed after a year in a space simulator. They found that thicker coatings were more stable, while thinner coatings degraded faster.
