The study looked at wetlands in Shandong Province to see how they have changed over the past five years. They found that the wetland area has decreased by 24.57% since 2008, with coastal wetlands being hit the hardest. Natural wetlands like lakes and rivers are shrinking, while artificial wetlands, like wetland parks, are increasing. This shift is causing ecological problems, such as land reclamation and water quality issues.
