New wastewater treatment method reduces pollutants by over 80%!
The study aimed to find the best way to treat wastewater from a laboratory before releasing it into the environment. They tested adding a chemical called PAC and activated carbon to the wastewater. Adding 50 ppm of PAC reduced turbidity by 87.2%, TSS by 83.3%, and metals like Mn and Fe by over 60%. Adding 80 grams of activated carbon made the pH neutral and reduced a harmful substance called MBAS by 83.62%. However, these treatments didn't affect levels of ammonia and TDS in the wastewater. The results suggest that using PAC in the initial treatment basin, followed by activated carbon in the next step, is effective for treating laboratory wastewater.
