New Rice Genotypes in Bangladesh Boost Crop Yield and Quality
The study looked at 47 different types of rice plants in Bangladesh to see how they vary in important traits like yield and plant height. They found that grain yield, number of effective tillers, filled grains per panicle, and grain weight are key factors for improving rice crops. Traits like plant height and filled grains per panicle are mostly influenced by genes, making them good targets for breeding. The number of effective tillers and filled grains per panicle are closely linked to higher grain yield. Days to maturity also play a big role in determining yield.
