Students unaware of loan payback plans, schools take priority.
This research looked at how students decide to take out loans for college. They interviewed seven students with loans and found that students often don't know much about loans and focus more on choosing a school. Students also tend to avoid thinking about paying back loans. The study suggests that schools should teach students more about finances and careers, and loan companies should communicate better with borrowers, especially those who are the first in their family to go to college or come from minority backgrounds.
