Attachment Issues in College Students Linked to Social Anxiety, Unconditional Self-Acceptance Key
The study looked at how college students' social anxiety is related to their adult attachment, focusing on self-acceptance and emotional clarity as mediators. They surveyed 495 students and found that self-acceptance and emotional clarity play a significant role in the relationship between attachment anxiety/avoidance and social anxiety. Self-acceptance was a key factor in reducing social anxiety related to attachment anxiety, while emotional clarity was crucial in reducing social anxiety related to attachment avoidance. This suggests that tailored interventions based on adult attachment dimensions could help reduce social anxiety in college students.
