Urbanization of Stryi River Threatens Water Quality and Ecosystems
The impact of urban development in Stryi is affecting the quality of river water. The increase in urbanization and population is leading to more pollution of water bodies. Pollution from fields, forests, and animal farms is worsening, along with the negative effects of landfills on surface and groundwater. Pollutants are entering water bodies not only from industrial and agricultural discharges but also from runoff in urban areas. The study evaluated the ecological and hygienic quality of the river water in Stryi, identifying the pollutants from urban influence.
