Tomato hybridization boosts yield, promising higher crop production for farmers
Researchers crossed different types of tomato plants to see if they could create new plants with higher fruit yield. They found that many of the new plants had better performance and produced more fruit than the original plants. Some combinations of plants showed a high level of improvement in fruit yield and other important traits. This study shows that by carefully selecting and crossing different tomato plants, we can create new varieties that are more productive and have desirable characteristics.
