Soil Enrichment Boosts Sorghum Yield and Nutrition, Revolutionizing Farming Practices.
The researchers conducted a field experiment to see how adding iron and zinc with organic materials affects the growth and yield of sorghum plants. They tested different amounts of iron and zinc enriched with farmyard manure or vermicompost. The results showed that applying iron and zinc with vermicompost led to taller plants, more dry matter, bigger ears, and higher grain and fodder yields. The sorghum also had higher zinc and iron content in the grain, as well as increased uptake of important nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. Overall, using iron and zinc with vermicompost improved the quality and quantity of sorghum crops grown in rainfed conditions.
