Blue Mountains Sewage Transfer Scheme Enhances Environmental Sustainability and Infrastructure Efficiency
The Blue Mountains Sewerage Scheme involves building tunnels to transfer sewage to treatment works. Stage 2 includes three tunnels, the longest being the 13.5km Katoomba Carrier. The challenges and changes in engineering a BOOT project for this scheme are discussed in the paper. The objectives for the Transfer Scheme were compared with design considerations driven by construction needs.
