New high-yielding rice lines promise increased food security on acidic uplands.
Researchers identified promising rice breeding lines adapted to acidic upland areas by conducting trials in Lampung. They found three lines with higher yields than the best check variety, Inpago 8. These lines also had medium rice texture and amylose content ranging from 20.99-23.84%. Some lines showed resistance to blast disease, tolerance to drought stress, and tolerance to aluminum stress.
