The goal of the study was to find the best location to turn a regular dam into a pumped storage hydroelectric power plant. Using a GIS model, the researchers identified a suitable second reservoir location at the Porsuk dam, which could store 0.664 GWh of energy. This approach helps meet energy demands by storing energy during high demand periods.
