New study reveals how employee surveillance tools impact workplace privacy.
The article reviews different software tools used in people analytics to understand how information technology is shaping this field. The researchers identified and analyzed 41 tools through social media monitoring. They classified the tools into five categories based on methods, stakeholders, outcomes, data sources, and ethical issues. The tools were grouped as employee surveillance, technical platforms, social network analytics, human resources analytics, and technical monitoring. This study helps us understand how people analytics works in practice, the role of technology in it, and how it connects to existing research in information systems.
