High wheat straw incorporation boosts soil quality in Chinese paddy fields.
Wheat straw added to paddy fields in China can increase soil quality and organic carbon content. A study looked at different treatments in a subtropical paddy field and found that adding a high rate of wheat straw along with NPK fertilizers led to lower soil density and higher levels of various organic carbon fractions. This treatment also resulted in the highest crop yield. Overall, incorporating wheat straw in paddy soil can improve soil health and increase carbon storage in this region.
