Toxic Lake Threatens Health of Nearby Communities, Urgent Action Needed
Scientists studied the water quality of Renuka Lake by looking at its physical, chemical, and bacterial properties. The water in the lake is not very good for drinking because humans are affecting it. The lake has too much bacteria and not enough oxygen, especially at the bottom. It also has high levels of minerals like iron and lead, which are not safe to drink. The lake is becoming overgrown with plants, which is making it less healthy, but some efforts to help the lake are starting to work. The lake mainly gets water from rain running off the land around it. People need to stop doing things like letting animals eat near the lake or putting waste in the water to keep the lake clean and safe for everyone.
