Rural waste turned crop booster: Ganga villages lead eco-friendly revolution!
Solid waste in rural areas near the Ganga River in Haridwar, India can be used to improve soil quality and boost crop growth. A study looked at waste management in five villages and found that most household waste is biodegradable. The waste also contains paper, plastic, metal, and other materials. Co-composting with cattle waste is suggested due to the high biodegradable content. Dry waste can be processed for energy production. The main challenge is the lack of waste separation at the source. Separating biodegradable waste from other materials is crucial for effective waste management in rural areas.
