Free Trade Zones Boost Exports, Benefit Central and Western China
The study looked at how free trade zones in China affect trade. They analyzed data from 11 zones established before 2017. The results showed that these zones boosted total trade and exports, but not imports. The impact was more significant in central and western regions than in the east. Each zone had different effects, with exports benefiting more than imports. This variation could be due to local economic factors.
