Insufficient R&D Spending in Agriculture Threatens Global Productivity Growth.
The article estimates Total Factor Productivity (TFP) in global agriculture from 1990 to 2013 using new econometric models. The study finds that TFP growth has increased worldwide, driven by improvements in transition countries. However, TFP growth has slowed in industrialized nations, with the EU showing mixed results. Insufficient investment in agricultural research and development in developed countries may hinder future productivity growth.
