New sesame hybrids show potential for significantly increased seed yield.
The researchers studied how different combinations of sesame plants can produce higher seed yields. They crossed nine different lines with five testers and found significant differences in characteristics like flowering time, number of capsules, and seed yield. Some hybrid combinations showed better results than their parents, with the best ones increasing seed yield by up to 42.60%. This increase in seed yield was linked to improvements in other plant traits as well.
