Boost rice yield and soil health with organic nitrogen integration!
Researchers studied how using organic resources alongside chemical fertilizers can improve rice yield and soil health. They tested different combinations of vermicompost, poultry manure, fish manure, and urea fertilizer on rice crops in coastal Karnataka. Results showed that substituting 50% of nitrogen with vermicompost led to taller plants, more tillers, and higher grain and straw yields compared to the control. Soil analysis also revealed higher levels of available nitrogen and potassium with this treatment. Overall, integrating organic and inorganic nitrogen sources improved crop yield and soil fertility after harvest.
