Reanalysis data underestimates rainfall intensity over Tibetan Plateau, impacting accuracy.
The study evaluated how well a type of weather data called ERA5 can predict rainfall events in a mountainous region in China. ERA5 did a good job overall but had some mistakes, like underestimating the amount of rain and starting and ending rain events at the wrong times. This shows that using this type of data for complex terrain like mountains can have errors, so caution is needed when using it for important decisions.
