New study reveals shifting monsoons impacting water supply in Asia
The study looked at how rainfall changes over the Tibetan Plateau. They used satellite data to classify three main rainfall patterns: winter peak in the west, early summer peak in the east, and late summer peak in the southwest. The winter peak is consistent each year, while the other two shift around. Winter rainfall is linked to strong winds, late summer rainfall to the Indian monsoon, and early summer rainfall to winds over the Pacific. This helps us understand how rainfall varies across the plateau and what weather patterns influence it.
