Vermicompost Boosts Okra Yields, Reducing Dependency on Harmful Fertilizers in Côte d’Ivoire
Okra is a popular vegetable in Côte d'Ivoire, usually grown with inorganic fertilizers. A study compared using vermicompost instead of inorganic fertilizers to grow okra. The results showed that vermicompost led to better germination rates and faster flowering times for the plants. While inorganic fertilizer produced taller plants, vermicompost resulted in more leaves per plant. Both vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer yielded similar amounts of okra pods. Overall, vermicompost can be a good alternative to inorganic fertilizers for growing okra in Côte d'Ivoire.
