Optimizing Boron and Nitrogen Boosts Onion Growth and Yield in Sandy Soil
Boron and nitrogen were studied to see how they affect the growth and yield of onion plants in sandy soil. The researchers found that using 2.4 ppm of boron and 80 kg of nitrogen per fed. increased plant weight, chlorophyll content, and yield. Applying too much boron (3.2 and 4.0 ppm) with any nitrogen rate decreased plant growth. However, potassium and boron in the bulbs increased with higher boron application. The best results for onion growth and yield were seen with 2.4 ppm of boron and 80 kg of nitrogen per fed. in sandy soil.
