The article explores how social equity impacts the success of payments for ecosystem services (PES) in Latin America. By surveying PES practitioners, it was found that programs perceived as more equitable also tend to be more successful in achieving their environmental and social goals. This suggests that focusing on social equity in PES design can lead to better outcomes for both people and the environment.
