Freshwater Carp Proven to Thrive in Saline Water up to 10 ppt
The study tested how well freshwater carp can survive in salty water. They exposed young carp to different levels of salt for 10 days. The carp were fine up to 4 parts per thousand (ppt) of salt, but became less active and ate less at higher salt levels. They could survive in up to 10 ppt of salt, but performed best in 6 ppt or less.
