The EU asylum policy faced challenges due to the refugee crisis and the failure of the Dublin System. This led to the policy becoming a security issue for the EU. The authors used securitization theory to show how asylum policy is now a key security concern. The EU needs to find new ways to manage migration while upholding its principles, especially free movement.
