New method simplifies irrigation management in rural regions with scarce weather data.
A study compared two methods to estimate how much water plants need in a hot Mediterranean climate. One method uses temperature and a radiation adjustment, while the other only needs maximum temperature. Both methods gave accurate results when data on humidity, solar radiation, and wind speed were limited. The temperature-based method performed well compared to the more complex method. This means that farmers in regions with limited weather data can still estimate plant water needs effectively.
