Soil erosion models overestimate farm-field erosion, impacting conservation efforts.
The researchers used drones to study soil erosion on farmland. They compared two models, USLE and WEPP, to see how well they predicted erosion rates. The drones found an erosion rate of 18.83 tons per hectare per year, while USLE predicted 26.23 tons and WEPP predicted 16.41 tons. The WEPP model was more accurate than USLE, which tended to overestimate erosion. This information can help improve conservation efforts on farms.
