Overgrazing in Sheep Paddocks Leads to Grassland Degradation and Biodiversity Loss
Overgrazing in sheep paddocks can harm grasslands and biodiversity. A study in Central-Hungary found that heavily grazed areas had fewer target grassland species. After grazing was stopped, the grassland started to recover, with more target species growing back. Manure didn't make a big difference in the recovery process. The study suggests that using fixed fences for grazing can damage grasslands and spread problem species to surrounding areas.
