Treasury breaks boundaries with issuance of long-term bonds in 1950s.
Between 1955 and 1963, the US Treasury issued seven long-term bonds, including one with a forty-year term. This study looks at why these bonds were issued and what led to their creation. It shows that before the 1970s, bonds with maturities longer than thirty years were not uncommon.
