Socially integrated individuals show higher levels of altruism, study finds.
The study looked at how being connected to others in a social network affects how generous people are. They found that students who were more connected to others were also more likely to be generous. This was true even after taking into account how the situation was presented and how close people were to each other. So, being close to others and being part of a social group both play a role in how kind people are to each other.
