Parents do not necessarily leave more money to children who earn less. A study on inheritance patterns found little evidence to support the idea that parents give more to financially struggling offspring. This challenges the common belief that parents are altruistic in their bequest behavior. The findings have important implications for government policies and addressing economic inequality.
